Scrambling

Scrambling appeals to both climbers and walkers. It is the middle ground and if done well provides the exhilaration of climbing with pace and fluidity. On a day’s scrambling with ourselves expect to ascend to airy ledges, up exposed rock routes or ridges.

Joss & Maesie on Striding Edge, Helvellyn

We will:

  • Ascend established scrambling routes or ridges
  • Use a rope to safeguard passage
  • Teach movement over difficult terrain
  • build speed v safety
  • Employ alpine skills

Low ratios are best. One or two people to each scrambling instructor means individual attention can be met. The bigger the group the easier the scramble.
